Finalization Phase

For the final couple of weeks, we mainly focused on polishing what we already had, including UI and art improvements and adjustments as well as adding in cutscenes, new sound effects, and new block layouts. As seen in the below presentation, a culmination of our work is displayed to show our progress we've made!

UI Updates

From this example gameplay video, it can be seen that new UI animations of increasing happiness (sparkle) and conspiracy (glowing red) are included, as well as a red danger border when the player is too low in happiness or too high in conspiracy (close to game over). Additionally, the layout is changed so that the cow count is simply one large number with no text at all to give that number more emphasis; the meters are moved to the bottom to make the composition more balanced. There is also an explosion animation on the UFO to notify the player when they've hit an obstacle, as well as a cow falling out of the cow count to notify the player that certain actions like colliding into obstacles or collecting FBI agents will lose them a cow.


Additionally, after playtesting, we went back in to fix some bugs as well as adjust obstacle hitboxes to accommodate for the movement differences between the chair alt controls versus keyboard controls. We also fixed our sorting layer issues so that assets appeared in the correct order and weren't overlapping in strange ways. Lastly, we achieved a working leaderboard that assigns the players a random UFO team name, and displays that team's corresponding score into the leaderboard if they make top 10!
